Canyon Springs Montessori Academy has been providing quality Montessori education and a nurturing learning environment for children for more than 25 years. With locations in Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows, we provide a consistent Montessori curriculum that supports students’ academic, social, and personal development. We are currently looking for an Elementary  School Teacher to join our Pitt Meadows location and contribute to our students’ learning and development while starting, continuing, or expanding their teaching career with Canyon Springs Montessori Academy.

Job Title: Elementary School Teacher

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

Number of Position: 3 Positions

Hourly Wage: $43.27 – $45.27 per hour (depending on work experience)

Working Hours: 6 hours per day, 30 hours per week

Working Location: 18477 Old Dewdney Trunk Road, Pitt Meadows, B.C. V3Y 1Z1

Benefits: 4% vacation pay or 10 business days paid vacation + Extended Medical Insurance after 3 months of employment

Job Duties:

·        Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and learning activities for elementary students in accordance with the B.C. curriculum and the Montessori educational approach;

·        Teach academic subjects, including language, mathematics, science, social studies and other subjects as required;

·        Establish and maintain a structured Montessori learning environment that supports students’ academic, social and emotional development;

·        Observe, assess and document students’ academic progress and individual learning needs, and provide appropriate instructional support or remedial activities;

·        Assign, review and assess students’ classwork, projects and homework, and prepare and administer tests and other assessments as appropriate;

·        Communicate with parents, school administrators and other staff regarding students’ progress, learning needs and development;

·        Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, teacher training and school events;

·        Supervise students during classroom activities, outdoor activities, field trips and other school-related activities, and collaborate with other teachers and staff to support students’ educational needs.

Qualification:

·        A Bachelor’s Degree in education is required;

·        A valid BC Certificate of Qualification (COQ) or Independent School Teaching Certificate (ISTC) is required;

·        Previous teaching experience in a school setting is an asset, but not mandatory;

·        Practical knowledge and experience with the Montessori philosophy and curriculum is considered a strong asset;

·        Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills are essential;

·        A working knowledge of English is required, as the teacher will need to work and communicate with staffs, children, parents, and others in English.
