</p><p>Business Title: Director, International Strategy and Partnerships<br>Location: 622-470 Granville St., Vancouver, BC<br>Full/Part Time: Full-Time<br>Salary: $80,000 / year<br>Closing Date: Open until filled.<br>Available Openings: 1</p><p>Job Summary<br>The Veterans Transition Network (VTN) is the only Canadian charity delivering mental health services specifically for Canadian male and female veterans from coast to coast. The Director of International Strategy and Partnerships provides strategic advice and leadership in establishing and managing international partnerships for the VTN. The role of Director of International Strategy and\ Partnerships is focused on the advancement of group-based counselling program research, development, and delivery through the treatment and assessment of clients, strategic partnerships, and the training of clinicians in group counselling interventions.</p><p>The overarching responsibility of the Director of International Strategy and Partnerships is to identify and develop international partnership opportunities that have broad impact to VTN’s research, brand awareness, and group counselling program expansion. Effectively carrying out this responsibility will bring long term benefits to the organization’s strategic vision and mission. The Director of International Strategy and Partnerships will work closely with VTN’s research team at the UBC Centre for Group Counselling and Trauma (CGCT) on research and program development activities. The position will carry out due diligence before new partnerships are established, and recommend institutions that align with the VTN's strategic vision and mission to ensure that international relationships integrate across the spectrum of program research, delivery, and expansion, and are aligned with VTN’s mandate of serving Canada’s veterans.</p><p>The VTN runs with an annual operating budget of $2.7M and has 10 staff members, including three regional coordinators who work remotely across Canada. The position will involve a significant amount of work-related travel. The remaining time will be split between the offices of VTN and CGCT, and working remotely as required.</p><p>Work Performed<br>Providing strategic advice on the development of a VTN International Strategic Plan with the goal of promoting the VTN’s brand and therapeutic model through international engagement, with a focus on the Five Eyes countries.<br>Evaluating existing and potential partnerships with select organizations in priority regions, and initiating and cultivating those<br>partnerships in accordance with VTN’s International Strategic Plan.<br>Defining transparent criteria for undertaking international initiatives, making sure they relate to VTN's mandate and<br>organizational values.<br>Capitalizing on existing international relationships with a focus on expanding single-spectrum partnerships into multiple spectrum including funding, research, development, and group counselling programming for veterans.<br>Providing recommendations on continuation or expansion of current research partnerships into long term collaborations, such as joint research centres and projects.<br>Providing advice in improving communication about existing partnerships, international opportunities for collaboration and success stories to VTN stakeholders and the Canadian public.<br>Identifying funding opportunities for large-scale international collaborations.</p><p>Supervision Received</p><p>Reports to the Executive Director of VTN. Works collaboratively with VTN staff and CGCT faculty and staff.</p><p>Works quite independently, under the broad guidelines established with the Executive Director of the VTN and in alignment with the goals of the VTN. Work is reviewed for achievement of objectives, soundness of judgement, quality and effectiveness of results.</p><p>Supervision Given</p><p>No direct supervision.</p><p>Consequence of Error/Judgement</p><p>The incumbent is responsible for a high degree of self-direction and is required to exercise superior judgment and performance in all areas. Provides data and/or recommendations that will be relied on by the Executive Director of the VTN for accuracy and completeness, and will form the basis for good decisions. Poor communication, insufficient research, or inappropriate recommendations could lead to inappropriate decisions which will affect the effectiveness of strategic partnerships, and the perception of VTN among the veterans community, stakeholders, and the public at large.</p><p>Qualifications<br>Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.<br>Minimum of five years relevant experience.<br>International relations experience, including private sector, government, and educational institutions required.<br>Strong knowledge of international policy and law. Formal education in these fields considered an asset.<br>Sensitivity to cultural issues and diversity with effective cross-cultural communications skills.<br>Strong management and organizational skills.<br>Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with teams of professional peers.<br>Ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion.<br>Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritize.<br>Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.<br>Ability to plan, manage and collaborate with partners at both UBC and internationally, in order to execute a variety of complex projects with imposed deadlines.</p>
