We’re Vernon’s only board game café—a welcoming space where guests can enjoy great food, quality drinks, and a curated library of board and card games to play during their visit. We serve coffee, tea, snacks, pastries, and sandwiches, all with friendly, attentive service to make every visit a great experience.

As the owner, I am expanding my business into the Vancouver area and will be dedicating more of my time there. As a result, I am urgently seeking an experienced Café Manager to oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and make key decisions in my absence. This role requires a strong leader who can provide effective guidance and ensure smooth, consistent management of the team.

Position Title: Café Manager

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent 

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible

Position Available: 1      

Wage: $37 – $38 per hour (Depending on Working Experience) 

Working Hours: 30-40 hours per week 

Benefit: 10 business days of paid vacation or 4 % vacation pay 

Job Duties: 

· Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the café to ensure smooth and efficient service;

· Plan, implement, and evaluate operational procedures, service standards, and policies;

· Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment;

· Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, feedback, and leadership;

· Manage inventory, control costs, and monitor revenues to support profitability;

· Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations;

· Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction;

· Coordinate with suppliers to maintain consistent quality and availability of food, beverages, and retail items;

· Maintain and manage the board game library, and organize events such as game nights or group bookings;

· Make independent operational decisions in the owner’s absence, ensuring consistent leadership and service quality.

Qualifications: 

· Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management is required;

· Several years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience is required;

· Excellent leadership, operational, and customer service skills;

· Ability to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment;

· Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving skills;

· Working knowledge of English.
