Sakura Sushi is seeking proactive and team-oriented Sous Chef to provide culinary expertise and ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

 

Work Location: 770 Oliver Street, Williams Lake, BC V2G 1N1

Position Title: Sous Chef

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible
Position Available: 02

Wage: $37.00 – 37.50 per hour (Depending on working experience)

Work Hours: 30 hours per week

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay or 10 Business Days of Paid Vacation

 

Responsibility:

·       Supervise activities of cooks and other kitchen workers

·       Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff

·       Prepare and cook complete meals or specialty foods, such as pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables and meat, poultry and fish dishes, and create decorative food displays for special events such as banquets

·       Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

·       Develop high-margin specialty items

·       Plan menus and requisition food and kitchen supplies

·       Develop and implement kitchen training systems

·       Oversee kitchen financial performance including monthly inventory analysis, adjusting menu pricing or portioning, if required

·       Manage proper fish aging, storage, and rotation procedures

·       Act as Chef in the absence, assuming operational responsibility.

 

Qualification:

·       Completion of secondary school is usually required;

·       Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.

·       Sous-chefs require at least 2 years of experience in a Sous-chef position OR  at least 4 years of experience in commercial food preparation.

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a great team player;

·       Working knowledge of English.
