Established in the beautiful Collingwood neighborhood of Vancouver, Green Leaf Sushi offers a refined fusion Japanese menu with subtle global influences in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We take pride in providing authentic, expertly prepared, and innovative sushi and Japanese cuisine, crafted by traditionally trained chefs and kitchen staff.
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team and help bring our menu to life. This role plays an important part in supporting daily kitchen operations and delivering an exceptional dining experience to every guest.

Work Location: 5737 Battison Street, Vancouver B.C. V5R 5L6
Position: Cook
Wage: $20.00– 21.00 per hour
Working Hours: 30 hours per week
Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Starting Date of Employment: As Soon As Possible
Position Available: 1
Benefits: 4% vacation pay or 10 days paid vacation per year

Responsibility:
• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual Japanese menu items such as ramen, udon, donburi, tempura, and appetizers according to established recipes and standards.;
• Oversee and ensure smooth kitchen operation in accordance with the standards of restaurant;
• Prepare special dishes for customers with food allergies, intolerance, or dietary restriction as needed;
• Plan new dishes on our menu, determine the serving size of the food, and estimate food costs;
• Supervise and train kitchen helpers with food preparation, food safety standards and time management to provide meals;
• Clean kitchen and work area, ensuring the work area is always sanitized and clean;
• Regularly maintain inventory and records of ingredients, essential equipment and supplies, and order supplies as needed;

Job Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is usually required;
• Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks OR, completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety OR, more than 1 + year of commercial cooking experience would be a good asset, but is not a mandatory requirement;
• Ability to work under pressure as a team player in a busy kitchen atmosphere;
• Working knowledge of English.
