Responsibilities
Tasks
- Assess the current status of a given area for sustainable forest management
- Conduct forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
- Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure the development of good quality forest crops
- Display spatial data using Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Help forest managers in planning access routes and forest roads
- Measure the density of crop species and the amount of competition present to determine the need for tending operations
- Monitor the effectiveness of silvicultural practices
- Supervise forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
- Supervise technical functions in silvicultural operation
- Supervise the construction of access routes and forest roads
- Use photogrammetric and mapping techniques
- Enforce environmental, fire safety and accident prevention regulation
- Develop and maintain computer databases
- Provide technical support to forestry research
- Operate snowmobiles
- Operate all-terrain vehicles (ATV)
- Establish and maintain required environment
- Verify processing conditions and work area
