Junior Scholars is a licensed and independent early education day care center that offers programs to children from age 11 months to 10 years. Junior Scholars nurtures and cultivates a caring and comfortable environment for children through play, academics, and well-being, and utilizes technology to support learning. The program includes infant and toddler care, Pre-K Daycare, Junior Kindergarten, and before and after school camps. Currently, we are looking for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant in our Surrey location to start, continue, or expand their careers at Junior Scholars. This location is the largest and busiest among our three locations. We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Assistant who can effectively support ECE and ECE-IT staff in delivering high-quality care and education to children.

Hourly Wage: $23.50

Working Hours: 30 hours per week

Working Location: 103 – 14225 57th Ave, Surrey, B.C. V3X 3A3

Benefits: 10 days of vacation pay or 4% of vacation pay  

Job Duties:

●        Provide strong day-to-day support to Early Childhood Educators (ECE) in implementing curriculum, supervising children, and maintaining a safe and structured classroom environment;

●        Engage children through storytelling, music, crafts, and interactive games;

●        Help prepare and serve nutritious snacks; set up classroom areas for meals, rest, and activity times;

●        Assist children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and toileting;

●        Observe and record notes on children’s participation, behavior, and progress for educator or supervisor review;

●        Maintain cleanliness and organization of classrooms, toys, and learning materials; assist with light housekeeping duties;

●        Support educators and supervisors with administrative or record-keeping tasks as needed.

Qualification:

●        Completion of secondary school is required;

●        Completion of an early childhood education assistant certificate program or post-secondary courses in early childhood education is required;

●        BC Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certificate is required;

●        Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset;

●        Since we are looking for an experienced person, we require minimum 3 years of experience in an ECEA position;

●        Good English communication skills are required.
